The Experience of Schizophrenia

If you're interested in a career in medicine you need to learn some Greek. Scienctific terms are derived from Latin but Medical terms are Greek. The positive symptoms are mostly the psychotic symptoms, and can be managed fairly well with medication. The negative and cognitive symptoms are prefrontal cortex functions of the human brain, and they are most of disability that schizophrenia can result in. So what do the words mean,

affective flattening -- a flat mood, no joy no sorrow
alogia -- poverty of speech and thought, you don't talk much
Avolition -- lack of motivation and initiative
Anhedonia -- losing the ability to enjoy things you once enjoyed
Attention -- short intermitent attention span
memory -- poor short term and long term memory recall
execultive functions -- losing your ability for abstract thought, and ability to plan for the future

Basically you don't want any of these symptoms, They reduce your quality of life a lot.
